Q&A with the Author!!!

When did you start writing, and was there a specific event or person who influenced you to become an author?

I've had stories running through my head since I was a little girl. I played around with writing short stories in college but no never anything seriously. Then, in 2010, I decided to see if I could even write a full-length novel. Did my own NaNoWriMo in January and wrote 80,000 words. And I was hooked.

Are you currently working on a project, and if so, can you tell us anything about it?

I'm working on a novella right now for the Sweet & Sassy anthology. I've been enjoying getting to know the characters and having fun figuring out how I want them to get to the end I have in mind. I've also got the first drafts written for three novels (the 3rd book in the Safe Harbors series and a YA portal fantasy duology). Very different from each other.

Here are a few great snippets!
Romance:

I was convinced I would never see him again. I had tried unsuccessfully to expel him from my thoughts, but he was always there, haunting my dreams and slipping into my mind during the day.

Suspense:

The morning after Twelfth Night, I had planned to leave London and return to Eyre Hall. I was having breakfast by the hearth at the inn, when someone crept up behind me and sat down in the chair to my right. I looked down at his unsteady hands, fearing he wished me no good.
“Michael, I done it. I killed him.”

14 Days of Romance Valentine's Day
Book Blitz Event

Day 11

Midnight Runner
by Marilee Jackson

Nothing like a little medieval romance to get you ready for Valentine's day, right!?

Book Blurb

Mistreated for years, orphaned Moira dreams of building a new life in the royal city. Little does she know that her dreams will cost more than just her own fate. This medieval tale of romance, mistaken identities, and long-sought redemption will change how you feel about villains and heroines, loss and love.

Snippet

Brian was exiting the small store with a few sacks tossed over his shoulder. He looked down to check his list just as a quick movement by the door caught his eye. He looked up in time to see a blur of black dive off the front porch. He had been walking around in a daze, and he wasn't sure if he had really seen it or not. Maybe he was having hallucinations, because he had been obsessing about seeing Moira all morning. Shaking his head to clear away the slight hangover, he pushed the door open and looked to his left to see a large bush wearing shoes. He wasn't real great with all plants, but he did know that most of them didn't have feet.
And if they did, they didn't walk much, so why would they need shoes?
