Lark shoots me a glare before asking, “What are you doing here?”

The venom in her voice is probably meant to scare me away but all I hear is come closer. I’m totally mesmerized.

“Hey, Sweetheart. I said you’d be seeing me soon. Figured I’d stop by and say hello in person.” I make sure to keep my tone calm but my skin inches with heat at the fire burning from her gaze.

“And I told you to leave me alone unless you’re ready to give me what I want.” She shifts her stare down to my groin while raising an expectant brow. “Is that what you’ve brought me?” She lifts her scorching eyes back to my face and seductively bites into her bottom lip.

Her sass is tantalizing but it’s the beauty underneath I’m truly after. “Sorry to disappoint you but that’s not why I’m here, Vix. I want to discuss some stuff, relating to us.”

“Vix? As in the vapor rub?”

An amused chuckle bounces up my throat. “Nah, short for Vixen.”

She seems to mull it over with a slight tilt of her head. “I suppose that's fitting, though you don’t need to be handing out nicknames. Tell me, what could we possibly have to talk about?”

“No idle chit-chat first? I’m hoping we can get to know each other. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since the other night and this sexy librarian look you’re rocking is hot as hell, but it’s more than that. Are you willing to hear me out? Maybe make an exception for me?”

A frustrated sigh answers my question. “I don’t have the patience for this, Rowen. I’m very busy here and you’re wasting my time.”

I lean against the door, trying to show I’m not ready to leave quite yet. “Answer me this. Where did you work when you were younger? Let’s say seven years ago?”

Lark glances away before shuffling some papers into piles. Her fidgeting makes me smile because now I’m certain she remembers just fine. A barely-there blush blooms on her cheeks while she continues avoiding my question. I wait her out and soon enough she graces me with a response.

“I don’t see how that’s any of your business.” Her deflection causes me to edge forward a bit, as though we need to be closer. She speaks to the depths of my soul, no matter if she gives me sass or softness.

“I’m trying here, Vix. Want to help me out? Did you work at Brack’s Box during the summer of 2010? Maybe a guy stopped in on a random July afternoon and stumbled over his words in your stunning presence. Do you remember that?”

Lark is still avoiding eye contact but I hear her whispered yes as if she shouted it across the room.

When someone walks into your life that takes your breath away and makes you believe in love at first sight but disappears shortly thereafter, it can alter you in more ways than one.

When Rowen walked into Lark's life she believed all her dreams of happily ever afters and true love were coming true. And when he disappears with no word and no way to find him, she started to let go of your beliefs of love.

But the last person she expected to see again is about to walk back into her life. And once Rowen realizes he's found his dream girl again, he vows to win her trust and her heart.

He's got a tough road ahead because Lark has some deep issues and has built walls around her heart. But if he can get through those walls, will Lark be able to embrace their connection? Or will she resist Rowen's pursuit and walk away from him forever?

Forget You Not is a stunning tale of second chances and the power of true love.

I loved how Rowen goes about getting his girl, he never gives up no matter how hard she tries to push him away. He knows deep in his soul that Lark is 'the one' and despite having hurt her in the past, he vows never to put her in that position again.

Lark is woman that will protect her heart at all cost after suffering many misfortunes in finding love. What I love about her is that she can't deny her connection to Rowen no matter how hard she tries to fight it. And when she stops fighting it, she jumps in with both feet.

The passion that exist between this couple is hot, hot, hot. When Rowen whispers in your ear all the dirty, naughty things he wants to do to you will makes your knees weak and heart race.

I thoroughly enjoyed Forget You Not, Rowen, and Lark. Watching them fall in love and embracing their future together is a fascinating journey to witness.

If you love a second chance at first love, a hero that commits completely to his love, and heroine that is flawed and feisty, then I highly recommend you pick up Forget You Not today.

Prologue

Pain.

Debilitatingain is all I feel as I attempt to keep my emotions in check. Saying goodbye to my best friend was never a thought I entertained. Now it's my reality.

“Wills.” His voice takes on a pleading tone as he stares into my tear filled eyes. “Please don’t make this harder for me than it already is.” He continues to look at me as the saltwater drips down my cheeks.

“I’m sorry, X, but you have no idea how difficult life will be here without you.” I can’t catch my breath as the hysteria threatens to take over. I try to take deep inhales between puffs of pitiful exhales.

He presses his forehead to mine and I don’t think he understands how much that involuntary, ingrained move means to me at that moment. Xander is one of the greats and I’m about to lose him.

“Promise me,” I begin in a begging voice. “Swear to me that you’ll come back and everything will be the same.”

“Willow Shae, I could never stay away from you longer than necessary, so you don’t even have to ask. But yes, I promise and swear I will be back as soon as possible to return to our regularly scheduled friendship.”

With that remark, he has me cracking a smile. Even through the tears. Gosh, I will miss this man.

“Will you write me? Does that sound cheesy? I see it in all the old time movies and I always wanted to say it.” Maybe it is the dreamy lilt to my voice that has his lips quirking into a smile.

“Wills, I will write you every chance I get and I expect the same. Now, give me a hug that means everything you feel because I won’t see you for at least a year.” His eyebrows crease with that devastating blow, even though I’d heard that timeline before. I can tell he’s still very worried about how I’m feeling based on the telling nonverbal cues radiating off him.

We embrace easily, like so many times before, yet this is different. His hands linger on my hips before settling on the middle of my back. His breath holds until he blows it slowly across my neck. His eyes find my gaze like he had more to say than his voice would allow. I indulge these rare affections and give a few curve balls of my own.

“I’ll miss you every day, Xander. I will never go a single moment without a thought of you. Best friend or not, you mean more to me than any other person in this world. Please be careful. I will be waiting for you.” I pull away before he’s able to reply. I can’t stand to further delay this inevitable separation.

Xander looks down at me once more before picking up his pack and hoisting it over his shoulder. Then he tosses out the toughest blow ever dealt.

“When I am having a bad day, or we get into brutal battle, or a friend gets hurt, or… just something awful happens, I will think of your smile because it always makes me happy.”

Then he turns and walks toward the airline gate.

This was it. I have to tell him. It is now or never. As he passes through the threshold, I gain my courage.

“Xander!” I scream. He turns around immediately and looks startled by my outburst. It’s then I realize he had planned to keep walking until I called out. I can’t lay out my heart then just watch him leave.

Instead of telling him exactly how I feel, I blow him a kiss. Maybe for good luck or maybe for all the kisses I wish we had actually shared. He catches it and smiles. Then continues on his way.

Xander is much braver than I am, he's an amazing man, and he will make our country proud. But my most forefront thought is worry that I will never get to tell him how much I love him.
