Yours To Bare
by Jessica Hawkins
Released: December 8, 2016

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00071]

Synopsis

Finn

No matter how cruel it’s been in the past, I’ve never been able to flip fate the bird. I’m a romantic at heart. So when fate drops a leather-bound journal at my feet, I know I should walk away.

I don't. I pick her up, bend her spine, spread her pages. From the first word, I’m a goner. The owner didn’t give me access to her most intimate desires, but I devour them anyway. Her private darkness, her candid, explicit poetry—it all goes down like warm milk. And from that point forward, I drink, eat, and sleep her.

Halston

I went to his apartment and let him take my picture. Just once, to see how it would feel. I’m not his to look at, to inspire, to touch, but when he watches me through his lens, it gives me a high I don’t want to come down from…

My journal is the one place I can be myself—as long as I can tie it up and put it away when I’m finished. But when Finn undoes the bow, he pulls strings that could unravel each of us.

Review

Sweet Baby Jesus, Jessica Hawkins has out done herself with Yours To Bare! I seriously couldn't get enough of Finn before, but now, it's out of this world. Finn's story is finnaly here.

Finn and Halston are two people that have been hurt in the past and those demons still haunt their present. However, there is something there between them that draws them together. Can two broken souls find a way to build a love and heal each other? There's only one way to find out, jump in and hope for the best.

Oh my goodness, what an enchanting, captivating story that grabs the reader right from the start and doesn't let go until the very end. If after you finish, you still going to want more because Finn and Halston's chemistry is so intense that sparks fly off the pages.

You can't help but connect with Finn's emotional journey from the heartache that Sadie caused to the love he builds with Halston. And although Halston has been dealing, or lack there of, with her past, I can't help but admire her desire to become a better person and get the know the woman that's been hiding behind the medication. Her journey is of self discovery is an emotional roller coaster that tug at your heartstrings. However one thing is for sure, the passion is out of this world. It's hot, intense, pure, and soul baring.

Jessica's books are always exceptional and incredibly dramatic and Yours To Bare is no exception. It's a page-turner, setting on the edge of your seat, and a cold shower required book. I would highly recommend this book to lovers of Slip of the Tongue, but also for those that didn't love it. Finn and Halston are a couple that shouldn't be missed.

Excerpt

In his dimly-lit kitchen, Finn lays a comforting hand on my shoulder. “I have to tell you something.”

My hairline prickles. I can sense whatever he says will be heavy, and I’m not sure I want to hear it. I force a crooked smile that probably looks as awkward as I feel. Since I just fed Ginger, I joke, “What? I smell like dog food?”

“I want to kiss you,” he says without missing a beat. “I won’t, but I just thought you should know.”

My stomach drops as if I’m in free fall. I bite my lip involuntarily, then release it, afraid it’ll look like an invitation. Can he really come out and say that? Without prompting, without wavering? You can want to kiss someone and not say it. Should I be angry he confessed that? I’m not. I’m curious. Stirred, even. And because we’re being honest, I ask what I want to ask. “Why?”

“Why do I want to kiss you? Or why did I tell you?”

My heart rate picks up. I lose my nerve. “The second one. That’s not the kind of thing you just come out and say to a stranger. A married stranger.”

“I like you.” He absentmindedly caresses the nape of my neck with his fingertip. “So I want to be honest.”

I put my hand over his wrist, and he stops. Now, and for the last hour, it’s as if we’re the only two people on the planet. The Bad Wife and the Stranger. If I let him kiss me, nobody would ever know. After all, Nathan might be kissing someone else too. Why else would he have lipstick on his tie? Finn doesn’t wear lipstick. Neither do I. It would be our secret.

“You’re leaving, aren’t you?” he asks.

Am I? I have to. I don’t trust myself to stay, and I don’t trust myself to speak, so I nod. I don’t have to pull his hand away. He takes it back willingly. And he walks me to his door.

Review

If you're in the mood for a rollercoaster ride of emotions with a side of angst, then look no further. Jessica tells a story about a woman who is questioning her marriage when her husband starts pulling away, then add in the sexy new neighbor that sets her pulse racing. Although the neighbor is in the middle of a life change himself, he is drawn to her and wants to give her everything he can. He husband is standoffish, but there is more to him that you would expect. And after all that is said and done, the person standing at the end may or may not surprise you.

This book is a real page turner that will leave you breathless and yet you'll want to yell at the characters. Both men are seductive and you can see what Sadie would fall for them. And let's not even get started with the oh so titillating times... that was some hot stuff!

The twist and turns throughout this book will keep you at the edge of your seat, turning each page faster and faster until you've completed the book. Then you'll sit there for some time just trying to absorb it all.

Jessica has a way at weaving words that will consume you, thusly, I really enjoyed this provocative book. This alluring tale may be fiction, but it symbolizes the hardship we all face in real, day to day, life.

Excerpt

After spending two hours outdoors getting my headshots taken by Finn, I slide into the backseat of the Uber with Finn, grateful to be back inside. He puts an arm around my shoulders and draws me to him. “Cold?”

I should pull away. Once I have it, though, his warmth is impossible to reject and feels as necessary as breathing. “A little.”

He squeezes me closer. Moves his hand up and down my bicep. “You’re shivering.”

The driver looks at us in the rearview mirror. “You guys are a cute couple.”

“Thanks,” I say.

Finn arches an eyebrow, pleased—because she thinks we’re together, or because I didn’t correct her? I don’t even want to correct her. I’ve missed the look she’s giving us, the one a woman makes when she’s more envious than jealous. I get it all the time with Nathan. That feeling, coupled with the heater blasting from the front seat, leaves me slightly woozy.

We’re just like actors in a movie, I tell myself. This isn’t real. It doesn’t count. After a few minutes, the urgency to get warm lessens, and the door opens to another less pressing, but still basic need. Because that’s how my arousal feels—essential. The more it’s ignored, the fiercer it grows. I snuggle into his side. All it takes is his hand on my upper thigh to invite an assault of graphic fantasies. Finn shoving me down on the backseat because he can’t control himself anymore. Thrusting his fingers under the hem of my dress to find me ready for him. The lower half of my body aches with sudden demands.

“Some of those photos we just took were for me,” he whispers in my ear. He couldn’t have chosen a worse moment to tease me. My legs are jelly-like. “Does that make you mad?”

I check to see if the driver is paying attention. She must know I’m married. How can something so vital and concrete in my life be hidden? “What if I say yes?” I ask.

“I’ll delete them. If you’re sure it doesn’t . . . turn you on.”

I try not to pant. “Why would it?”

“Imagining me looking at them later.”

I turn my head. Our mouths are a breath apart. One more inch, and they’ll touch. Again. Those lips are the color of sunburnt rock but whisper soft. We’ve done it once. Would one more kiss hurt? I can’t stop the image of him looking at me, my exposed, white throat on his computer, his cock in a firm fist. It should disgust me. It makes my panties damp instead.

“No response necessary,” he says as the car pulls up to the curb. “I can read it on your face.”
