Blurb Blitz & Giveaway ~ Her Desert Prince, Desert Destiny #1, by Marie Tuhart

Her Desert Prince
by Marie Tuhart
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance

Catherine Taylor is no stranger to life’s school of hard knocks. At the tender age of 18, she left her dysfunctional family behind and struck out on her own, finally free to embrace her passion for creating art. After years of hard work, she has achieved some degree of acclaim. When she is offered the opportunity to work in the small middle eastern country of Bashir to create the defining mural for the new children's critical care ward, Catherine embraces the chance to meld her love of children and her love of art. What she doesn’t think she is ready for is the blatant and instant passion she feels the moment she meets the successful country’s crown prince, Malik.

Malik al-Hakim has been raised with the sole purpose of someday becoming the king of his beloved country of Bashir. Years of careful preparation by his loving family has him ready to take the yoke from his father one day, but nothing could prepare him for the instant lust he feels the moment he sees Catherine. Never one to let an opportunity slip by, Malik pursues Catherine convincing her to explore their desire. But when political intrigue places Catherine in danger, Malik soon realizes lust has evolved to love and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep the woman of his dreams safely by his side, no matter how hard she tries to fight their fate.

Excerpt

“Are you cold?” He frowned.

The night air was warm to him, but that didn’t mean it was to her.

“No.” But her body shook again.

If she wasn’t cold, what was making her shiver? Her breath grew shallow and her eyes larger. His gaze swept over her body. Her nipples were pressing against the fabric of her robe in hard little peaks. She was aroused. She was shivering from excitement, not cold. He hid a smile.

“I didn’t mean to make you uncomfortable tonight.” He was taking a shot in the dark, but his mother had chastised him for flirting with Catherine, possibly causing her to retire early.

Catherine shrugged and her robe slipped, giving him a peek at her creamy skin. His groin tightened as he found himself without the right words. A first for him. He usually knew exactly what to say to a woman.

“You’re different from other women.” He stepped closer to her.

“In what way?” Her back stiffened. Damn, she misunderstood him. “Well?” she asked, tilting her head to the side while staring at him.

He barely resisted the urge to plant kisses along her exposed neck. His forefathers had the right idea when one of them saw a woman he wanted—capture her, carry her off to his desert tent, and make her his. He drew in a deep breath. He needed to soothe over the nerves he’d bristled with his words, and then he’d go about wooing her.

Excerpt

It’s small, probably the smallest size available, but remarkably heavy. The address is hand-written.

I know the handwriting.

I throw the envelope into the dustbin. Unopened.

I go out to buy a fresh bread roll and eat it on the spot even though the chill in the weather does nothing to encourage lingering in the street. The air smells like rain and cocoa.

All around me are couples: at the other three black metal-lacework tables inside the coffee shop, outside on the footpath walking hand in hand, or arm around waist, or palm of the hand on the back of the neck.

I spy on them all, attempt to sniff out their recipe for a happy life. I look at the young mothers with milk bottles and prams, and I wonder why life is so bloody hard for me, why everybody but me knows the answers to life’s choices, the secret key to bliss.

The girl in a plum office skirt leaving a coffee shop next door with a polystyrene cup of espresso, for example, she looks like she has it all: a wedding band on her finger, a high-power job, a smile on her face. It’s not that I want a husband or an office job—either would stifle me in a week. But the plum skirt girl radiates inner happiness, so I go into the coffee shop and order a cup of whatever she’s just had.

And when I emerge through the glass door, polystyrene container in hand, nothing’s changed. I’m just a woman with a plastic cup of coffee in my hand.

The irony being, I don’t even drink coffee.

About The Author

You won't believe this, but when I'm not a novelist I'm actually a Doctor of Mathematics. A business and data analyst. A wife and a mother. Most of all though - I am a writer (in several languages) hoping to change the world one book at a time.

My heritage is inter-continental. I was born and raised in Poland. When I was twelve, my family and I emigrated to South Africa. Your teenage years are usually your formative years, so it’s no surprise I consider South Africa my second homeland. For the past twenty years, I’ve lived in New Zealand, and people ‘back home’ tell me I’ve become a real Kiwi.

Crime fiction is my passion. My childhood hero was, predictably, Hercule Poirot. I've changed my mind several times since, and for a time I was totally into Harlan Coben's super-rich super-able Win (Windsor Horne Lockwood), but my current favourite is Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch… I mean, Sherlock Holmes.

Excerpt

Next minute, the sexy gardener was there by my side, inscrutable as usual in baseball cap and dark glasses. This time he was bare-chested, setting off a warm pulse below. He was so hot my breath hitched. Speechless, I clutched onto my sarong.

He appeared a giant compared to my five-foot-two frame. My eyes drank him like ambrosia. In the sun, the dusting of hair on his firm, rippling chest shimmered. Droplets of water, which I suddenly thirsted for, settled on the puckered flesh of his tanned, shapely biceps. His wet shorts hugged his muscular thighs. I nearly swooned when I noticed a considerable bulge clinging to his drenched shorts. Is that an erection?

Reminded I was topless beneath my slightly see-through sarong, I tightened my grip. The heat raging through me was intense. My nipples, with a mind of their own, pierced through the thin fabric.

I couldn’t see where his eyes were behind those dark glasses. But I felt his gaze burning into me anyway. With no idea how long I’d been staring, my senses scattered.

At last, the god spoke. “I’m sorry about that. He’s taken a shine to you, which is unusual for Rocket. He’s generally reserved, bordering on anti-social.” A deep, sexy voice accompanied his scrumptious physique, which was fortunate. A high-pitched voice would have been heart-breaking.

About The Author

50 Shades of Grey, was the first contemporary romance book I’d ever read. Up to that point, I’d spent my entire reading life buried in literature.

But then, one day, I picked up 50 Shades of Grey and couldn’t put it down. Impressed by their heart-felt, down to earth portrayal of love and sex, I quickly developed a voracious appetite for contemporary romance books. I was so inspired by the genre that I decided to explore that world as a writer.

After completing a certificate in Writing Romance with the Australian College of Journalism I embarked on writing three books. All of which are still sitting on my computer.

Then Aidan Thornhill entered my imagination and came alive on paper. From that moment, like all emotional love stories, nothing else mattered. I fell in love. And was compelled to write, almost in a frenzy, every day without fail.  I am presently working on my latest novel – The Importance of Being Wild.

Blurb Blitz & Giveaway ~ Lie To Her by Mehrisa Mex

Lie to Her
by Mehrisa Mex
Genre: Psychological Thriller

Despite years of treatment, twenty-one year old Lydia still struggles with trauma from being attacked as a teenager. House-bound with anxieties and haunted by ghostly visions, she soon comes to suspect her psychiatrist husband, Myles, of sabotaging her recovery.

Her pursuit of the truth uncovers secrets more terrible than she ever imagined and it soon becomes clear that nothing is as it seems and no one can be trusted – not even herself.

Excerpt

She drew out a baseball bat from the cupboard and gripped it tightly. Then she swung it at the camera on the landing until she was sure she had destroyed it.

She thundered down the stairs and knocked out the one in the hallway. She then went about smashing the one in Myles's study. She was out of breath by the end of it, but also completely exhilarated.

Good girl.

Now out of view of any detectable surveillance camera, she went over to his desk drawer, which was locked. She hoped the gun was still in there and she tugged on it on the off-chance that it was a bad lock. No such luck.

With her hands shaking from the adrenaline, she pulled the hairpins out of her jeans pocket and laid them out on the desk. Her eyelids fluttered as she surveyed them. What was she thinking? She couldn't do this.

You've done it before a hundred times.

"That was years ago." Her days of picking locked liquor cabinets were long past her.

You can do this. Or, I can do it for you.

"No, wait."

She bit the soft end off one of the hairpins and pulled it apart while bending the rounded end of another pin into a lever. She pressed the lever hairpin into the lock cylinder and with the other one, she began to work on shifting the spring-loaded internal pins into their required position.

At any moment, it would all be over. The doors of the house would fly open and people would come crashing in to get her - the unstable fugitive, the runaway lab rat.

About The Author

Mehrisa Mex writes mystery-thrillers, neo-noir and international crime. She often appears in her own imagination lit in the chiaroscuro style of film noir and narrating thoughts to herself in moody, hard-boiled tones.

Book Blitz & Giveaway ~ Reading His Submissive, Restrained Fantasies #2, by Brandi Evans

Reading His Submissive
by Brandi Evans
Genre: Erotic romance, BDSM romance

Raven

I’ve spent my life depending on one person: myself. I’ve learned the hard way other people will only let me down. I’ve worked for everything I have, but thanks to my drug-addicted mother, I’m about to lose the one thing I’ve craved for years. Needing to make some extra cash, I ask my boss at Restrained Fantasies, a Dallas BDSM club, for some extra shifts. Much to my chagrin, Master Carter Burkes is with him, and Carter leaps to my rescue, bound and determined to save me—only I’m not the kind of girl who needs to be saved.

Carter

I can’t sit by while Raven, a recurring figure in my fantasies, is in trouble. My job as a detective keeps me busy, but I’m not looking for a relationship, just a sub to assist with a class I’m teaching: Reading Your Submissive. Raven always claimed she wasn’t a member of the lifestyle, so imagine my surprise when I discover a budding submissive inside her. She gets under my skin in ways I can’t fight, but emotions are dangerous. I learned that the hard way. Is getting close to Raven a mistake? Will I destroy her life like I destroyed the life of the only woman I’ve ever loved?

This is book two in the Restrained Fantasies series but can be read as a standalone.

Publisher’s Note: This romance is intended for adults only. It contains elements of danger, suspense, mystery, BDSM, sensual scenes, romance and adult language. If any of these offend you, please do not purchase.

Excerpt

Raven punched the elevator button and waited for the doors to open. Damn her fucking mother. Damn her, damn her, damn her. Ten thousand dollars. How the hell was Raven supposed to come up with that kind of money by the end of the month?

Who fucking screwed over their own child this way?

She fisted her hands at her side and fought the urge to punch more than the elevator button. Taking out another loan or getting new credit cards with credit limits large enough to help was out of the question. She was over-extended as it was; served her right for trying to help the bitch in the first place. After helping her mom out with attorney fees and bail after her last arrest, Raven had been left holding the bag. She still couldn’t believe her mom had skipped on bail. Again. And crazier still, Raven didn’t know why she’d bothered helping in the first place. That had been her first—twentieth?—mistake.

Meth was slowly destroying Raven’s life, and she’d never touched the stuff.

The elevator doors slid open, and Viv Michaels strutted through. Viv was the boss’ sub and the love of his life. She was a sweet, vivacious woman Raven had come to like a lot.

Viv was dressed in her usual club fare. Black fuck-me boots, red miniskirt, and a matching leather corset which barely contained her ample breasts. She was the boss’ perfect match in every way—and it made Raven a whole lot envious. She’d never trusted anyone enough to let them in, let alone have what Viv and the boss had.

Viv’s lips curved into a friendly smile. “Hey, Raven. How’re you?”

Raven forced herself to return the other woman’s smile. “I’m good.”

Viv’s gaze sharpened. “You sure? You look… upset.”

“Just having a bit of a tough time today, but everything will work itself out. It always does.” More likely it won’t. It never did.

Over the years, she’d gotten damn good at lying about her emotions or redirecting the conversation, so with luck, Viv would take the near-lie at face value and move on. Because this problem wouldn’t work itself out. She might as well face reality and get used to it.

She’d be homeless by the end of the month. Viv placed her hand on Raven’s arm and gave it a reassuring squeeze.

“Okay. Just know I’m here if you need to talk.”

The offer warmed Raven. Part of her acknowledged the impulse to accept Viv’s offer, hug her close, and let the tears come. The other part, however, the stronger part, reminded her trusting another person only ended in disaster. She’d had enough tragedies in her life already. The only person she could depend on was herself.

“I’ll keep your offer in mind,” Raven lied.

“Good.” Viv flashed another smile and then headed toward the boss’ office. She seemed so sweet and sincere. Maybe, if Raven was very lucky, she could trust Viv.

Yeah, and maybe someday, Raven would have more than two fond memories of her mother.

Raven stepped onto the elevator and pressed the button for the ground floor. She still needed to go home before her regular shift. She’d come straight from the bank, and she wasn’t exactly dressed for—

“Hey, Raven, wait up!” Someone forced their arm through the sliding doors and kept them from closing. When they opened again, she found herself staring at the handsome face of Carter Burkes. And her libido jumped to immediate attention; it usually did when he was around.

The sexy cop might be close to ten years her senior, but he wore his age like a badge of honor. Defined biceps and triceps bulged from the sleeves of his black T-shirt. The cotton stretched over his trim torso in all the right places, and his leather pants did little to cover the contour of muscular legs she’d admired more than once in the club.

A few strands of gray decorated the hair at his temples; otherwise, the perfectly messy brown locks appeared thick and lush. More than once, she’d had to squash the temptation to bury her fingers into the strands just to see if they were as soft as she’d imagined.

A day’s worth of growth covered his cheeks and square jawline. And damn those dimples. Why’d they have to amp his fuckability to stupid levels? Didn’t she have enough shit to worry about?

Intoxicating Excerpt

He caught a glimpse of skin, a flash of navel inside his jacket.

And that’s when his earlier objective to methodically analyze her flew out the window. This wasn’t the little girl he once knew. This Poppy was every inch a woman. When had that happened? How had he been so blind, and for how long?

And then her weight landed on her heel and her knee buckled. In the blink of an eye her jubilant expression turned tortured, and she inhaled sharply.

Before he knew what he was doing he was there, his arm snaking around her waist, propping her up. “Over here.” He guided her to- ward the nearest couch, letting her use his body as a crutch.
“If I hadn’t second-guessed myself, I would have gotten all six of those wines right!” said Poppy. Not even her pain could erase her elation for long. For Poppy, every victory, even a small one, was cause for celebration.

But for Heath, that test was rapidly becoming a memory.

The main thing is her foot and easing her discomfort, insisted his ever-practical nature.

He tried to maintain decorum as he deposited her rump onto a couch covered in a crimson plush and, mission accomplished, began to straighten his spine.

But Poppy apparently had a different idea. Still caught up in her enthusiasm, she seemed to be in no hurry to unclamp her grip from around his neck.

With a growing uncertainty, Heath searched her face and saw that now her expression had softened. Her eyes sparkled with a new ardor that both disturbed and exhilarated him. A waterfall of gold cascaded behind her as her head fell back, exposing her vulnerable neck, her eyes narrowed, and her lips parted in invitation.
