About The Author

Molly O'Keefe has always known she wanted to be a writer (except when she wanted to be a florist or a chef and the brief period of time when she considered being a cowgirl). And once she got her hands on some romances, she knew exactly what she wanted to write.

Top Ten (or nine) List of 

Women in Jeopardy Stories!

I saw Sleeping With The Enemy at an incredibly impressionable age and the thrill and fear and relief and of that storyline has stuck with me for years. I think the power of those stories – or modern retellings of it -  stems entirely from the moment when the woman who has been scared and diminished turns around and confronts and defeats the person who has been terrifying her. 

It’s a direct inspiration for Everything I Left Unsaid and my heroine Annie who is on the run and hiding from her abusive husband.

And so here is the list of my Top Ten Favorite Women In Jeopardy stories:

1-3.  Chloe Underwood, Genevieve Spenser and Summer Hawthorne from the first three Ice series by Anne Stuart.  When this romantic suspense series burst onto the scene it was so different, so exciting because it really really felt like the heroines were in danger – FROM THE HEROES! My favorite was Ice Blue.

4. Lizbeth The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo – Lizbeth gets so much abuse and so much revenge it became redundant for me – but that first book was so powerful!

5 Haven from Blue-Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas – oh man, this whole series is fantastic. But this book is the stand-out for me.  So many of the times the backstory is shown in flashbacks or in conversation – to see the backstory happening in real time was super gripping.

6. Water from Burying Water – this is a really interesting book told in two time periods after a woman is found and she has no memory of what happened to her before. She’s not in jeopardy in the current time frame – but the tension is thick.

7. Gilliane of Warewick from This Is All I Ask. God, I love this book. It’s an older medieval that is so sweet. I’m not sure how it will stand up to someone coming at it fresh – as it’s many years old – but I love it. Grumpy hero, mousy heroine learns to stand up for herself. I reread it every few years.

8. Ariane from Enchanted. This is the third book in Elizabeth Lowell’s medieval paranormal series – which I love. The heroine doesn’t kill the man who abused her, which would have made it even better but this has been on my keeper shelf for eons.

9. Double Jeopardy. When I asked people on twitter and facebook about their favorite woman in jeopardy story – this one came up A LOT. It’s been eons since I’ve seen the Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd thriller – but it’s a good one.
