“I need you to believe me. You ...” She hit him again with what little mobility he left her with. “You need to believe me.”

He bent and looked directly at her. “I believe you.” Then he pulled her against his chest and kissed her forehead. “I do.”
She melted against his hard body. “You’re the assassin in this room, remember?”

“That’s right. I am.” He pushed her back to the wall. His tone turned low and deep. “It probably disgusts you. You probably want to run from me.” His hard body held hers in place and his thick cock pushed against her hip.

“No.” She focused on him. “I want you.” She blew out a breath. “Don’t push me away.”

He brushed her collar bone with a feather light touch. “Why aren’t you frightened of me?”

“Don’t you see? This Aidan doesn’t scare me.” She dragged her teeth across her bottom lip. “This Aidan makes me come undone.” Warmth flooded her core. All she wanted now was for Aidan to command her body, bring them together in a way that erased all the ugliness bombarding their lives.

He brushed her hair behind her shoulders and then dragged his touch down the side of her neck and to her breast, “Do you know what else we use this room for?”

“Tea and biscuits?” A bubble of tension tingled along her fingers and toes.

“Cute.” He tugged on a lock of her hair. “Gavin originally commandeered it for interrogations but the room’s purpose changed once Ethan brought in the furniture.”

“That bench.” She pointed to the one with different levels. “It’s not just a bench.”

“Nope. You trust me?”

“I do. I’m not scared of you either, Aidan. I’m scared of losing you, losing your trust. You’re all I’m hanging on to.” She pressed her palms to his firm chest. “Please tell me you believe me.”

“I do, baby. I’m sorry I had to ask you those questions. I couldn’t get through it unless I questioned you like I did. But now that it’s done and we’re in this room I can’t ignore what we need. Tell me again you trust me.”

“I trust you, Sir.” She held still.

“Submit to me. Here, in this room, will you submit to me?” His gaze darkened.

“It would be my honor, Sir.” She took a deep breath.

“All you have to say is red and I’ll stop. Do you understand?”

“Yes, Sir. I understand.” She waited for his command. With each second, her heart eased into an even rhythm.

Review

Elizabeth Martin thought she had finally gotten her happily ever after when she married Reese Martin. Life was great, until one day it wasn't. Her world was turned upside down and the mystery surrounding Reese's disappearance only makes matters worse. Just when she thinks she knows up from down, she thrown another curve ball.

Aidan Clery is man that knows how to stay in the shadows, which is perfect to the work he does. He knows what needs to be done, and he does it. No questions asked. The only problem he has is the growing need he has to find that special someone. He never thought the life he leads would be conducive in a relationship, but watching his friend and business partner find love has giving him some hope.

Aidan's latest job puts him in the path of Liz, and after one look, one taste, he'll do anything and everything to protect her. He knows she's the one for him, even if doesn't believe he deserves her. As long as he protect her from an unknown assailant, makes sure no harm will ever come to her, he'll be to walk away, right?

Unexpected Destiny is everything you would expect from SJ and more. This book is filled with a mystery that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat wondering what will happen next, will Aidan be able to keep Liz safe? Just when you think you know what to expect, you are thrown a curveball.

But there is also a seductive love story that will tug at your heartstrings. The passion between Aidan and Liz is electrifying, heating up the pages leaving the reader thirsty for more. Aidan's dominance will have you weak in knees, begging for him to take you over and over again. He's a man that isn't afraid to push your limits, knowing what you need, what you desire, and able to give it all to you.

I loved watching Liz evolve as the story unfolds. She's a big a shy thing in the beginning, but in the end she's a strong, independent woman that will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. I adore how she can push Aidan's buttons like no one else. She's a fiesty thing that shouldn't be trifled with.

Unexpected Destiny is a thrilling, sensual, love story with a touch of mystery that you won't be able to put down. If you're looking for a book that is a perfect escape from the humdrum of everyday life, than look no further. This is a mesmerizing book in a series that just keeps getting better and better.

SJ Gives Us A Little Insight Into Aidan and Liz

Aidan and Liz were destined to find each other. But life had several twists in store for them before they'd ever actually meet. Here's a look at a few of the things that ultimately brought them together.

During their adolescents, they spent a good bit of time living only a few blocks apart. I like to think he might have helped her with her bags once or maybe she threw a wayward ball back in his direction. Although, they both had lots to learn about themselves and they'd have to wait for love.

They both have close friends for which they'd do just about anything for.

Both Aidan and Liz were lucky enough to know their grandmothers well before they past. Aidan keeps his grandma close by remembering her infamous quotes about love and life. I like to think she knew Aidan would find love with Elizabeth and did the best she could to prepare him to be the man she'd need. Liz keeps her grandmother close by wearing her locket. Liz believes it gives her strength, but what Aidan will help her see is her stength has been inside her all along.

Liz and Aidan both enjoy beer. They may have come to appreciate it from different angles, but once they see it through each other, a whole new understanding takes hold. That can be said for so much they have in common. ;) Oddly enough, it might just be their love for beer that finally has their paths cross at the right time.

I knew from the beginning, these two deserved happy endings. As I got to know them and fell in love with their wit and kind hearts, I was totally unprepared for the thrilling ride their road to love would take. It all seemed so simple at first, two people destined to fall in love. But what happens is anything but expected.

Coming here had been stupid. If she left quickly, Ethan would never know she’d been there.

A step inside and she knew she’d made the wrong decision.

Ethan stood and came at her. “What are you doing here?”

“Ah.” She pushed the door closed behind her and stayed put. “I’m ah…”

“How did you get in here?”

“I took a cab. You’re busy. I’ll just get back in a cab and go home.” She turned around.

He stepped in behind her and placed his hand on the door above her head. “Don’t make another move.” He kicked her feet apart and pressed his body to hers.

She stared at the door. An ache rushed from her chest to the back of her throat, and then she heard a tiny little click.

He pulled her hair back and brought his lips to her ear. “They can still see us but our voices are blocked for thirty seconds.”

She had no idea what to say to him. Many times they discussed how dangerous it would be for her to get caught up in his business. “I’m sorry.” What a pathetic thing to say. She knew better.

“You followed me here?”

“I did.” Her stupid jealousy had gotten her here. She felt like a child. Maybe she should be punished like one. She tapped her head on the door.

“We’ll have a long talk about this when we get home.”

“I understand, Sir.” Her voice came out crackly.

“How did you find my room?”

“I may have told this second blonde woman I just started working here.” She wanted to crawl under the table.

“You did what?” His tone had gotten awfully low. “What do you mean second blonde?”

“Shit.” She tapped her head on the door again. Then she remembered the cameras. “I’m supposed to be in here making you happy.”

“You’ve failed.”

“Hey!” She turned around and he plastered himself to her.

“You have no idea the kind of danger you’re in this very minute.”

“From you? Yeah, I have an idea.”

“I’m the least of your worries. I’m working tonight.”

She sucked in a deep breath. Her heartbeat raced. “I’m so sorry.” Not only had she betrayed her promise to Ethan, but she’d put both their lives in danger.

He put his hand around her throat and squeezed. “Shhh.” He stroked along the back of her neck. His touch may have been gentle but his palm pushed her head back, bringing her gaze to his. “Follow my lead and I’ll get you out of here, but first I will make good use of our time.” His beautiful hazel eyes turned dark as night.

“Okay.” She trusted him and believed with her whole heart he’d get her out of this situation. A tiny click signaled the end to their privacy.

“Are you sure about that?” He hauled her back to the couch where he’d been sitting and pulled her over his lap.

“What are you doing?” She kicked her legs.

“You need to make me happy, wouldn’t want you getting fired on your first day.” He flipped up her skirt and yanked down her panties.

Review

Nadia couldn't be happier, she's got her man and their love is stronger than ever. But Ethan is being a little distant, what is he doing that he's keeping quiet? Is it her, is she not satisfying him? Is there someone else?

So when Nadia choose to follow him one night, things quickly take turn that pushes her outside her comfort zone. But will Ethan be able to get to her in time before she is taken away from him forever?

Desire Protected is a quick, sensual, heart pounding read that will have you desiring more. Ethan proves, over and over, that the only woman that holds his heart is Nadia, even when Nadia lets her mind gets the best of her. Nadia loves Ethan, but her past makes her question the depth of his love for her. But even with her worries, I love how she'll fight to keep her relationship together.

This story is intriguing and I enjoyed it immensely. The mystery surrounding Ethan case will keep you glued until the end. And the chemistry between Ethan and Nadia will have you yearning for more. They are seriously one seriously passionate couple.

In the end, life may be crazy and unexpected, but a couple that will fight for their love at all costs is something any reader can appreciate.

Getting lost in a book is one of her favorite things to do. In early 2011, the characters in her head, which were normally well behaved, started to scream so loud that she pushed past her nerves and started to write.

She loves almost any kind of story as long as it contains a love story. She’s a sucker for romance, loves happy endings. Two of her all-time favorite authors are Jane Austen and Cherise Sinclair. Their brilliance sparked a change in the plots that had so often filled her imagination. Once her heroines began to see where they could fly, they demanded she write their story.

S.J.’s stories are not for the young at heart, as they reach deep into erotic romance. However, you will always find a happy ending.

She believes hearts are meant to come together and find love. As a writer, she has a tendency to break hearts, but she always glues them back together.

“Mark! I was hoping you’d make it.” Sam crossed the room and barrel-hugged him.

“Sorry I’m late. I went to the club first.” He caught Kate’s gaze from across the room. The man looked more delicious than she remembered. His V-neck shirt hugged his upper body in a way that made her envious.

“Well, you’re here now, buddy. Come on in. Kate has a spread for us. You can take your pick.”

She coughed to hide her gasp and made her way out to the back patio. The evening had yet to cool, but she still shivered. Hiding was not how she intended to handle things. Facing him now after thinking about him all day wasn’t an option either.

The small wooden platform was normally her oasis except the muffled sounds of the party inside wouldn’t let her forget where she was. Their corner lot didn’t offer them privacy but they couldn’t argue with the location. They were in the center of everything. She turned around and found the cause of her troubles coming outside. Her gaze shot to ten different places, anywhere but him.

“Just the woman I was looking for.” He closed the door behind him and then crossed the deck in an easy stride.

“Excuse me.” She stepped to get around him. A quiver rolled through her belly. “I was just going back inside.”

“I’ve been searching for you all night.” He blocked her path. “I’d hoped to find you at the club tonight.”

“Why?” He probably wanted a repeat performance. Her thoughts filled with all the naughty things he could do if he came closer. She shook her head. No way was she letting this guy near her again. Falling fast and getting her heart stomped was not on her to-do list.

“I wanted to apologize.” The low tone of his voice sank deep into her senses.

“That’s unnecessary. Not everyone can make a good cup of coffee.” She gazed into his deep blue eyes. Her pussy warmed at the sight of him. She shuffled back until she reached the railing, needing to keep her thoughts clear and her heart away from becoming easy pickings.

“What?” He stepped in next to her, clearly not deterred.

“I hope you have other skills because I don’t think you have a future in coffee.” She grabbed hold of the patio ledge. The lie sounded catty, but she hoped it would do the trick and cement a wall between them.

“I see.” He looked her up and down. “You’re one of those girls.”

She flipped her hair over her shoulder. “If you mean smart enough to stay away from players like you, then yes, I am one of those girls.” She put her hands on her hips.

He removed all the space between them. His thigh brushed hers. “Well, I tried one of your croissants today.”

“And?” She sucked on her bottom lip and pressed out her breasts.

“It was okay.” He leaned over her. His lips were within reach.

“What? That’s ludicrous. My baking is far from just okay.” She took a step forward, intending to put distance between them. He didn’t let her get away. When her body met his warm strength, she melted and moaned from somewhere deep within.

“I’ll tell you what’s ludicrous.” He grabbed her ass. “All the effort it’s taking you to deny what you feel when you see me.” The tone of his voice chipped away at the last of her reserve.

“That’s crap.” She pushed on his chest and got nowhere. “You didn’t even want to talk to me at your coffee house.”

“That’s not true. It doesn’t count if you didn’t want to be recognized.” He tapped the end of her nose.

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” She swatted at his hand.

“I have an idea.”

“I can hardly wait to hear it.” She grabbed the ledge on either side of her.

“How about you leave all the fancy baking behind and stick with something simple, like a donut?”

“Is that so?”

“It is. You disagree?” He brought his lips close to hers.

“Donuts require finesse, actually. A trait I manage skillfully. I’ll tell you what.” She licked her lips. “I’ll make you one of my cronuts. Do you even know what that is?” She couldn’t remember ever letting a guy get her this worked up. Just the thought of him standing in her kitchen had goosebumps dancing up her back.

“I do. It’s some kind of croissant-doughnut.” He inched closer, removing all the space between them.

“It’s fried decadence that will blow your mind.” The heat building inside cracked through her barriers. She raised her leg and pressed her pussy along his hard cock. “Is that an invitation?” He took a deep breath and rocked against her.

“To eat? Absolutely.” She licked her bottom lip.

Review

Common Grounds is a short, yet very delicious story about a chance encounter that turns into something spectacular.

Kate's confections pair wonderfully with Mark's heavenly coffee. Their talents are superb alone, but together they are are force to be reckoned with.

I love that Kate is an everyday kind of girl just trying to make her dreams come true. Although she's happy were she is with her career, she is striving for more. Her determination to succeed will not be hindered by those that tell her no.

Mark is new to the area, but is already making a name for himself. He too is determined to succeed, although his road may be a little less bumpy than Kate's. I love his attitude about his job and his confidence shines through everything he does.

Kate and Mark's chance encounter at the Club is sizzling. They way they meet and scene is thrilling to observe. To be that free and express yourself in that manner would defiantly be something to behold.

Although they each want to be with the other, they have a bit of miscommunication. But after all is said and done, the fire between the two cannot be contained. Their passion is evident with every passing page.

I loved this story completely. It is a delectable morsel that leaves you hungry more.

Interview with S.J.

1) Which writers inspire you?

So many authors inspire me and many for different reasons. Doris O’Connor inspires me with how she hooks me every time. Cara Bristol inspires me in the way she not only gets better with each release but how she’s so willing to share what she’s learned. Kacey Hammell inspires me with her creativity and sweet personality. I can’t get enough of these ladies.

2) What’s more important: characters or plot?

Oh! That’s a tough one. Great characters still need an intriguing plot to keep me hooked. It’s quite possible that character and plot are more important than the skill of writing. I’ve read a few books where the writing could have been better but I didn’t care because I was infatuated with the characters and had to know how the story turned out. I strive to build that kind of need to know in my stories.

3) If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in this story?

Not right now, no. I love this story and the back and forth sexual tension and passion that fills my characters and pushes them forward.

4) What books have most influenced your life?

The books that have most influenced me as an adult are Cherise Sinclair’s Lean on Me and Master of the Mountain. These were the books that changed all the stories in my head. They were the start of the avalanche that pushed me to write.

5) What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?

The first time I created a world in my Love Projects Series, I was surprised at how real it felt. Every time I dream of the stories in that world, it’s like I step into a real place. I’m also surprised how I keep coming up with ideas. Before I started writing, I never would have guessed that I could come up with what to write on page two. I’m currently plotting books ten, eleven, and twelve.

Excerpt

When he thought about it, Gina was the opposite of many of the people he knew, even Keller's latest hire. When Keller threw Janna into the deep end on her first day, just a couple of days ago, he figured Simon’s project would be toast. But she was smart as a whip and completely saved the day. Simon, a fellow Master at Club Voyage, was one lucky son of a gun. Not only was Janna an amazing project manager, but she was a submissive as well and the pair’s new working relationship seemed to be developing into something more. She was a brave one, for sure, to step into their environment. Marcus respected her and was determined to help her navigate the sometimes, treacherous waters.

He got up from his desk and went upstairs in search of Janna, figuring he'd check for last minute project issues and see how she was doing. When he entered the hallway to her office, she stood just
outside Simon's office, her arms pressed firmly to her side and her gaze fixed on whatever was happening inside. He stepped in behind her and found Gina perched on Simon's desk, positioned in one of her seductive poses. Her long legs crossed to raise her little skirt, showing off way too much thigh.

“Gina,” he said it sharper than he intended, but it got her attention.

She turned and her gaze bore into him, cold and flat. She slipped from the desk and sauntered past him. He figured she would have spit at him if they hadn't been in the office. Even still, her enticing scent tried to shake him from his fury.

He clenched his fists and stormed down the hall in the opposite direction. Quickly gathering his things from his desk, Marcus figured it was best to call it a night before he called Gina out in front of the whole office. What could she have possibly been thinking? Everyone knew Simon had already taken Janna on as a trainee.

He got halfway across the parking lot when the door to the building opened behind him. He turned to find Gina strutting towards him. Fury bubbled over and he stopped, needing to say his peace. Enough was enough.

“What is wrong with you? Can't you let anyone be happy?”

“I have no idea what you're babbling about.” She traipsed past him.

“Stop it, Gina. I've seen you do it enough times to know it's your pattern. No one gets to be happy on your watch, huh?”

“You're an asshole.” She took a step towards him and pointed at him. “You don't know a thing about me.” She pursed her red lips and turned back around, moving away from him.

“Nice.” He should have let her go. Fighting with Gina would get him nowhere.

“What's your deal anyways, always the hero, never wrong. Is that it? Keller should commission a statue.” She turned again, hand on her hip. “Wouldn't it make things easier for you if I distracted Simon?

You could move in on the new little blonde of his you're always talking to.”

“What, are you jealous?”

“Not on your life. I just figured with Rob all settled and happy, maybe now you'll finally settle down.”

“I'd love to settle down, but it wouldn't be with Janna. We're just friends.”

“Whatever.”

“I'm not into breaking up happy couples. That's your thing.”

“Save it. I'm not interested in a lecture from the ignorant.”

“Oh, do I have it wrong? Please, enlighten me. Did you not cheat on your husband? Have you not tried to break up Lydia and Jake and now Janna and Simon too? Good grief, Gina. Isn't anything sacred to you?” Heat flared up his cheeks. Tension straightened his spine. It felt damn good to finally call her out.

“That's what you see.” She raised her purse strap higher on her shoulder and for a second he thought a confession was coming, instead she lifted her chin. “I'll tell you one more time. You don't know me. You never did, never bothered to see anything but your own observations. That's fine because it's what everyone else does, but don't think it makes you better than anyone. It only makes you shallow.”

He let her go. Stunned by her statement. What in the world was she going on about? He couldn't possibly have missed anything in her plastic display of a life.

Who is Marcus Martone?

I first met Marcus Martone on the day I spent delving deeper into what made Gina so angry. She’s my bad girl from the first two books in my Love Projects series. After I pulled back all the reasons she claimed to despise Marcus, I began to see what made him so complex.

He’s the type of guy who will bend over backwards for a friend, even sacrifice his own happiness. When he joined the team at Voyage Industries, he was one of the first to befriend sweet Janna Hall who was struggling in her new position. He’s the guy that looks out for everyone but what about Marcus?

At the beginning of Taking Over, he takes on Gina’s bad attitude and Dominates her in a way that finally gets her to let go. Taking Over is their story. It’s where you’re reminded love is on the other side of hate. It’s where you’ll find the strongest of characters melting for the love they can no longer deny.

I fell in love with Marcus’s sweet side first, but this strength and determination has made him a hero I’ll always love and I hope you do too.

Bad Girl Gina Fontaine

I’ve dealt with mean girls in my life and when I first started writing Taking Chances, the first book in my Love Projects Series, I pulled from my own experiences to create my own bad girl, Gina Fontaine. Each time Gina pushed her way into my heroine’s lives, she touched on their fears but she also dared them to go after what they really wanted.

The more I got to know her, the more I wanted to know what drove her. There had to be more to her story. Could it be possible that she cared for anyone besides herself?

I soon discovered there was one person Gina loved more than anyone else, her mom. She has deep love and respect for her mother. In fact, some of the poor choices she’s made were chosen with the sole purpose of protecting her mom.

Also, Gina may no longer be in love with her ex-husband, but she still cares for him. She’s even tried to scare away the woman he was dating when she worried they wouldn’t make a good match. Yes, she’s my bad girl.

Although she won’t admit it, Gina is still in love with the first man she ever loved. That same man despises her. He’s also the hero of Taking Over. Oh boy.

This is a story of friends, to enemies, to lovers, to … I dare you to give his bad girl a chance.

Review

When SJ first told me that she was going to write a story about Gina, well let's just say I was very skeptical. Gina was defiantly not my favorite person and the way she treated my favorite heroines, well that didn't bode well for Gina. To Gina say was my least favorite person would be the understatement of the year.

As can be expected, when SJ told me to expect this story in my inbox, I was part excited and part scared. Excited to finally get to know Marcus and scared because it was Gina. But I promised to go into this story with an open mind, after all I do adore SJ.

So after reading it, did I like it?

Short answer..... Yes.

Long answer..... Gina surprised me, in more ways than I anticipated. The reasons that she acts the way she does proves that she has a heart.... a really big heart. Although her actions are not be condoned, I get it. And for this I have to, albeit reluctantly, admit that I like and respect her.

Marcus has he's hands full when he decides to get to the heart of Gina. He's the Master with a heart of gold. He's techniques are very provocative and alluring. I love that he never gives up on Gina, even when her stubbornness gets in the way. And it doesn't hurt that he's easy on the eyes.

What a great surprise to see so many familiar faces in this story. It's like seeing old friends and catching up with them. I would have loved to have been sandwiched between all those seductive men at one table. Someone get me a fan!

In short, this was a very sensual tale of longing for someone from afar and then getting the opportunity to finally act on those feelings. A story of hope, courage, and second chances. A story that proves you can't judge a book, or a person in this case, at face value.

Well done my friend! You took the bad girl we all loved to hate and made her someone that we can love and care for. I didn't think it was possible, but you are Gina's personal miracle worker!
