Synopsis

She might be the one fire he can’t put out…

Caitlin Tyler doesn’t do bridges—she just doesn’t know it until she lands her dream job and freezes halfway across her new town’s towering death span. Cue the cocky, infuriating fireman who goads her off the bridge. He’s hot, but he’s also exactly the kind of guy she wants to avoid…which she manages to do for a whole four hours.

Lt. Shane Hendricks is only two weeks away from leaving Dry Rock. He sure as hell doesn’t need to get involved with a woman he has to rescue twice in one day. The fact that she’s clearly annoyed by him doesn’t deter him from throwing down a challenge—one that proves hard to resist for all the wrong reasons.

They’re moving in different directions. Leaving should be easy, but falling for Caitlin might be the one fire he can’t put out…

On her porch, Caitlin fumbled with the key but managed to get the door unlocked. “Thanks for the ride,” she said. “It didn’t suck.”

“Good,” Shane said. “Because I don’t think it sucked, either.”

His agreement caught her off guard, and she looked at him in surprise. She’d known how close he stood, so she shouldn’t have been startled to find his face inches away. He’d done that in the parking lot, completely out of nowhere, his lips grazing her ear. It still burned from his touch, and if that crackling of lust didn’t calm itself, she’d willingly become the next Van Gogh in her effort to escape it. Tangling anything of hers with anything of his was on her nope list, so for her gaze to once again drift to his mouth meant nothing.

Until his lips touched hers.

Honest-to-God sparks lit the sky. She went numb, all except the party happening on her lips. Every bit of her hard won resistance shattered, and the stark reality that her bed was the only thing she’d wholly unpacked went screaming through her head. It was the longest brushing-of-lips in the history of human copulation, and she’d have wallowed naked in it if she could.

Walking away would have been a much better idea, but she hadn’t exactly batted a thousand on those lately. The only thing she’d managed consistently since she arrived in Dry Rock was to stumble into one awkward moment after the next, each and every one witnessed by the fire lieutenant. And now here she stood, wanting him, and there was no way it wasn’t obvious. Seriously, what the hell?

It had just been a simple kiss.

They parted by millimeters, and she whimpered, the moment hanging heavily between them for a split, indecisive moment.

Then it exploded.

With a groan, he grabbed the back of her head and captured her, pulling her mouth to his, tasting and teasing, driving a spike of need through her that left her falling deeper, drowning in something that made paddling a class five rapid seem sane. She clung to him as he pulled her close, voicing a quiet verse of profanity that made her want to beg him to come inside.

Again and again he drove the kiss while she clutched uselessly at his shirt, drawing him deeper, burning for more.

Wanting everything.

He tasted amazing. He moved like a god.

He…let her go.

Virtual Tour & Giveaway ~ Her Secret Ranger, The Men of At Ease Ranch #2, by Donna Michaels

Kissing the sexy soldier was a dare she couldn’t resist…

Her Secret Ranger
The Men of At Ease Ranch #2
Donna Michaels
Releasing March 6th, 2017
Entangled Lovestruck

Kissing the sexy soldier was a dare she couldn’t resist…

By-the-book event planner Beth Brannigan’s best friend dared her to kiss a cowboy. She should have said no. Instead, she said please…again and again. If her brother finds out she’s dating—okay, kissing—okay, sleeping with—one of his military buddies, he’ll kill her. Assuming he doesn’t kill his friend first.

Former Army Ranger Brick Mitchum isn’t a relationship kind of guy. But then he meets Beth and starts to wonder if maybe it’s time he settled down. She’s mysterious. Unpredictable. Curvy in every way he needs… And hiding something. He’s just got to figure out what.

All afternoon Beth found it hard to concentrate. A first.

Normally, she lived and breathed work, and took great joy in the planning and execution of events. And this one was personal. It was her best friend’s wedding.

Still, she found herself reliving those incredible kisses she’s shared with Brick at the fair. In front of Rachel.

Heat rushed into her cheeks at the thought of what they must’ve looked like devouring each other in public. At least, she’d felt devoured. And wanted. Oh man, she certainly wanted more, but she kind of always had the impression he was a bit of a Casanova.

So when he’d actually asked her out to dinner, her mind completely blanked.

“Earth to Beth.” Fingers snapped in front of her face, bringing her mind to the present and the fact it was late afternoon and they were sitting in Rachel’s kitchen, drinking iced tea. “There you are. Although, I’m pretty sure I know where you were. Back in that cowboy’s arms. You two were hot.” Rachel pulled out her phone. “See?”

She gasped. “You took a photo?” She swiped the cell from her friend’s outstretched hand then sucked in another breath at the picture of her and Brick melting into each other. “Damn.”

“I know, right? You two sure heated up that fairway. It’s a good thing Cord hadn’t shown up.”

“Oh my God.” She closed her eyes and shook her head. “Can you imagine?”

Beth knew the reason Cord had always given her dates the third degree was because he’d taken it upon himself to fill in for their father, who’d died when she was ten. But it hadn’t lessened her frustration. Even during Skype chats while on deployment he’d always inquired about her social life. Eventually Beth refrained from dating, because she didn’t want him worrying about her while he was out there putting his life in danger.

Her focus changed. She’d started working and saving money to take some online courses. Money was too tight for her to go to college, although she’d never admit it to Cord. The guy was sacrificing enough for the family, sending his checks home, never spending money or going on vacations when he was back on leave.

“The fists would’ve flown, for sure.” Rachel grinned, stirring her iced tea. “Although I don’t think it would’ve been as easy to pull this kisser off you. He was full of hard muscle, wasn’t he?”

She nodded. Brick lived up to his name. He was ripped, and she suspected, former military. The way he carried himself reminded her of her brother. Confident. Sure. And the way the sexy cowboy walked with a lethal agility made her hot and bothered. Then there was the tattoo on his arm. An eagle with other symbols she refused to look at closely and deliberately didn’t acknowledge. Last thing she needed was verbal confirmation Brick was in the military. With her luck, her brother probably knew the guy.

God…was it really wise to go out on another date?

Her gaze dropped to the photo on the phone in her hand, and her heart literally skipped a beat. Yes…yes, it was wise. And wonderful, new, and addicting.

And if she didn’t get a move on, she was going to be late.

“I’ve got to go.” She slid the phone across the table to her friend then rose to her feet to take her empty glass to the sink.

“Call me first thing tomorrow morning and let me know how it went,” Rachel said, joining her by the sink. “Or better yet, tonight if he leaves. But I hope he stays. He kind of looked like a guy with mega stamina. You could use an all-nighter.”

“Rachel!” She turned to stare at her grinning friend who had no clue how right she was about Brick’s stamina. Although he hadn’t stayed the whole night. Yet.

“What?” Rachel quirked a brow. “I know you agree. I can see it in your eyes.”

Lordy, she didn’t need her friend to see anything else. She walked to the table to grab her purse and forced memories of a naked, ripped, Brick and his mega stamina from her mind. “Talk to your fiancé about the new menu choices the caterer gave us today. And don’t forget to find out about guests with food allergies.”

“I will.” Rachel pointed to the clock on the wall. “You are officially done today. No more work. Go have fun with your sexy cowboy.”

Beth saluted her. “Yes, ma’am.”

Eight minutes later, she parked behind the hotel in front of her room, and some common sense returned with her. Seeing this guy was foolish. She wasn’t a fling kind of girl, and her life wasn’t in Braxton. She lived over two hours away.

With a sigh, she pulled her cell from her purse and brought up his number. Secret Cowboy. A smile tugged her lips. She really liked his sense of humor. Among other things.

All the more reason to hit call and cancel the date. Get out now before her heart got as involved as her body—which refused to tap the dang screen.

She was still waging the inner battle when a truck pulled in next to her and her secret cowboy unfolded from the cab.

Shoot. Too late.

Shoving the phone back in her purse, she took a deep breath and then opened the door. She’d just have to cancel in person.

“Hey, angel.” His sexy drawl sent shivers of awareness down her body, with extra emphasis on her good parts. Parts he knew how to make feel real good. “Just get back?”

She nodded, trying to find the right words and the courage to say them as he rounded his truck and drew near, looking sexier than he had a right to in a charcoal gray button-down shirt, black pants, Stetson, and boots. He’d changed. Holy crow, he looked absolutely delicious.

Didn’t matter. It was best if she said her piece. By the time she got her mouth to open, he was in front of her, cupping her face with his big hands and bringing her lips to his in a kiss that curled her toes.

I was really looking forward to this book because I loved book one in the series.

Her Secret Ranger picks up right after In A Ranger's Arms ends, and this time around we focus on Brick and Beth.

Beth is an event planner that has come to town to finalize the last minute details of her best friend's wedding. The last time she was in town she met a sexy cowboy that rocked her world, she hasn't forgotten about him but he was just a one night stand. However, when her friend dares her to kiss the next cowboy that walks in, she is pleasantly surprised to see that it's her cowboy.

Brick has been a player for as long as his friends can remember which is why he's called Romeo. He's a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy that doesn't believe in second dates. However all that changes when a green eyed stunner catches his eye.

And the more time they spend together, the more their friends take notice of the changes in them. But there is a secret that Beth is keeps that could break this new couple up for good. Or when everything is finally out in the open, can they work past their issues and build a future they both want?

Her Secret Ranger is a fun, witty, romantic and passionate book. I especially love that Brick didn't fight his feelings for Beth, even though at times he didn't know what to make of them. He knew deep down that taking the risk was better then not. I like Beth's strong, independent attitude. She's a woman that knows what she wants and isn't afraid to get dirty to get it.

The passion between the two is electric, you can feel the sparks fly off the pages. They can't keep their hands off each other, but they also have chemistry out of the bedroom as well. Their personalities. As a reader, it was easy to connect and relate to these characters.

I really enjoyed this book and couldn't put it down. I really loved seeing Stone, Jovy and Lula Belle again. I can't wait see what happens next in this sensational series. I highly recommend reading Her Secret Ranger, even if you haven't read the first book you will still enjoy it immensely.

Review

As my first Donna Michael books, In A Ranger's Arms knocked it out of the park, or should I saw the ranch!

Stone Mitchum is everything you could ask for in a hero. A former Army Rancher, a Texan, tall, built, down to earth, kind, and super sexy. He saw a need to help his fellow veterans, so got together with his brother and a couple of friends to made the plan a reality. It's been slow going, and he's taken a lot of responsibility on his shoulder, the last thing he thinks he needs a woman taking up any of time.

Jovy Larson is a woman on a mission, a set goal, a promise to keep. She never expected to land in Texas, but she's here so she'll whatever it takes to make it work. I really love her attitude, her winning personality and her heart of gold. Her loyalty to her those that mean the most to her is commendable. Personality, I couldn't help but love her relationship with Lula Belle.... priceless.

In A Ranger's Arms is hilarious, sensual, and witty read that I couldn't put down until I finished. The chemistry between Stone and Jovy is electric and flies off the pages. The witty banter between all the characters will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This is an entertaining read that I would highly recommend and I can't wait to read more from this series.

Liam voiced a string of profanity that would have made Sawyer proud. Raccoons were supposed to be cute and friendly. This fat, mangy, fanged thing with the crazy eyes hadn’t gotten that particular memo. “Do you have a broom?” he asked Claire.

“Yep. Right in that pantry beside the raccoon.” After a few more choice words, he asked, “Do you know how he got in?”

She edged to stand beside him, staying close. “If I knew of an opening for something that big to get in, don’t you think I would had done something about it? Besides, I think they can open doors.”

“Locked doors?” The woman was from New York City, where all things needed to remain locked at all times. Otherwise, even the shit that was nailed down would walk away.

“Why would the door be locked?”

He shot her a sideways look that backfired. Instead of getting his are you kidding me message across, he found himself drowning in an endless sea of blue.

He would have been content to drift there if not for the raccoon’s nasty hissing, so astutely fierce that it almost sounded like a joke. But Liam knew a raccoon could tear a person up. One thing he hadn’t rescued from his truck was a first aid kit, and along with his intention of keeping his appendages to himself, he wanted them intact. Which meant not sharing space with wild, angry animals. “Maybe you could lock it to keep raccoons out. I don’t know…that might be a start.”

She glared. “Because I absolutely expected this to happen.” The raccoon stared, less defensive now, then oh-so-epically-casually climbed first to a stool, and then to the counter, then ripped into a candy bar that had been lying there.

“Do you see that?” Claire said, edging to stand beside him. “He’s sitting there on his haunches looking me in the eyewhile he eats my chocolate.”

“The door isn’t open,” Liam said, trying damned hard not to sound amused. “Do they open and close doors? Is this the politest raccoon of all time?”

“No, I don’t think he is,” she said, turning toward Liam to give him an indignant stare. “Because as I previously mentioned, he’s staring right at me as he steals my food.”

Liam was sorely lacking in a smartass reply, probably because when she’d looked at him, her face tipped toward up his, he didn’t see the annoyance. He saw a delectably expressive mouth, and he wanted to taste it.

Probably as much as she wanted her chocolate.

Text Me Maybe Teaser 3

Excerpt

His gaze fell to her mouth as he grazed a work-roughened thumb across her bottom lip. Ive waited so long, eons before we met.

You are a poet, she whispered, her heart filled with awe.

His eyes hooded, he rolled her over, pinning her beneath his delicious length, and she surrendered to his kiss, grabbing his hair and locking him to her. Then she gave it all back and more, her mouth moving against his, telling him all she wanted him to do with her tongue. I want you so much, she breathed against his mouth, tilting her hips up.

I want more.

He lifted his weight off her.

Racy thoughts of him sliding and sinking inside her, deep and full, punctuated by the real-time yank of his belt and rasp of his zipper somewhere in the darkness beside her bed had her jumping up in an impromptu competition to dress the floor with her clothes, too. Shed wiggled out of her boots and jeans when she glimpsed him stealing around behind the sofa bed. Whatre you doing?

With a soft whooshing sound, the curtains parted, and the glow of streetlights shone across the room in pale, revealing stripes.

Oh, I see. She grinned, unable to take her eyes off his framelip-smackingly nude except for his sexy silk boxers in black. Going camping?

Lot of tent raising in recent weeks, and all because of you, he mused. He moved toward her and lifted a hand as if to caress her face, but then stopped. Maybe thats why.

Why what?

He scrubbed his jaw and sank onto the bed. Theres something important I have to tell you.

Uh, no. He didnt. She just wanted this moment. Are you married? Living with someone?

No! She sank onto the bed beside him. Gay?

I wouldnt be here if I were.

Then whatever it is can wait. Ive wanted you for three long weeks, too, and I refuse to wait any longer. She ran a hand along his bare thigh.

Youre too much, Lexie Bloom. Turning toward her, he laughed softly and pushed her gently onto her back.

Oomph Oh. My.

She bit back a moan of pleasure when he slid up and over her, straddling her like shed done him, her system on happiness overload as he leaned forward, his length pressed intimately against her abdomen.

He fondled her through the silk of her bra, caressing and rubbing, then, as if unwrapping a gift meant just for him, he lifted her breasts from their confines. So beautiful, he rasped. Dipping his head, he took one breast in his mouth, his tongue laving and circling, his lips pulling and sucking, his hands squeezing and molding. He went from one to the other, as if he couldnt get enough of either.

Take me there.

Like he had begun to before.

Like she wanted him to now.
