Stones Duet #2
by L.M Carr
Right is not always right; wrong is not always wrong.Faced with the truth about the woman he loves, Shane Davis has a choice to make—again. Accept Remy Scott or leave her for good.
The internal struggle to see beyond misconceptions and pre-conceived notions about life is not an easy one. The vow he once made to love and protect Remy is now challenged at every turn as circumstances change and new threats emerge.
After having lived a tumultuous life with her mother, Remy Scott views the world through a different lens. Her eyes are wide open, always looking to see what lies ahead in her bright future yet not forgetting what lurks behind in her dark past.
When unforeseen events become wildly out of control, Remy must make some tough choices to save the ones she loves—again. Will she choose her old life or will she leave it all behind? Will the man she loves be there by her side or will he walk away?
As Shane and Remy have already learned, one thing remains true —every choice has a consequence.
Excerpt #1
“I’m sure you have better things to do.” Her words are sharp with a reproachful edge to them.
I reach for her hand and smooth over her knuckles with the pad of my thumb before moving my fingers to her wrist.
“I’m exactly where I want to be. Where I’m supposed to be.”
She gives me strength. In all of history, men have been the stronger sex, but here in this hospital room with this beautiful girl, history is rewritten. She is my strength.
Excerpt #2
“What if I don’t want you here?” she counters with a de She releases a loud sigh filled with exasperation. “Just leave me alone, Shane. Please just leave me alone.”
If she thinks turning over and facing away is going to deter me, she obviously doesn’t know me well.
As quiet determination builds, I walk around the bed and lower myself until I’m at her eye level. Even though our eyes meet, I know she’s not really looking at me. I raise a slow hand to brush away the stray hair beneath the gauze. My eyes close as my lips hover, tentatively, before finally placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
“I’ll be back later.”
The contact with her smooth skin sends a flutter through my heart. It’s as if the world has been set right because in this moment I realize several things. I’ve missed her so much. We belong together. I’m so incredibly in love with her. With my lips pressed against her skin, I open my eyes and notice the tell-tale signs. She inhales sharply as her face softens and flushes lightly. Hope swells in my heart when her body reacts. I know she still feels it until a sad and silent tear slips through her closed lids.
About The Author
L.M. Carr, author of The Giving Trilogy and The Stones Duet, is a wife, a mom, an educator, a reader and a writer who lives in central Connecticut with her family and two dogs. When she's not sitting at her computer writing, she loves to read or spend time with family and friends.
The idea for the trilogy formed in the summer of 2013 and wouldn't leave her alone until she picked up a pen and jotted the thoughts down. Before long, words flowed as the story began to unravel about Mia Delaney, a small town school teacher, and the mysterious and sexy newcomer, Adam Lawson. Their story is an emotional roller coaster ride full of unexpected twists and turns.
Since then, she has written and released Casting Stones, book 1 of the Stones Duet, which follows the story of Shane Davis' journey to find love. Many readers disliked him in the trilogy because he made a mistake- a huge one. This is his story of redemption and forgiveness. Conquering Stones, book 2, the epic conclusion will release on August 17, 2016.
Looking to expand beyond Contemporary Romance, L.M. is considering co-writing a Young Adult novel and has several New Adult titles brewing on the back burner.
L.M. Carr is a lover of "Happily Ever Afters" because the world is filled with enough sadness. Reading is an escape in which anything is possible. But like in reality, stories sometimes take you on a journey through Hell before you can reach Heaven.
Follow along as we begin this journey together.
