How far would you go for immortality?
It has been a century since the wolves of the Silent Walkers waged war against the vampires of the Lamia for the Dark Blood of Immortality they possess.
As the battle lines are drawn once again, it will be up to the White Witch Emilie to use all in her power to bewitch the youngest of the wolves, Maccon.
To gain his trust.
To seduce him.
To bend him to her will.
To stop the impending war.
Touched by the Wolf is the debut novel from R. Murray and the first in the Dark Blood series.
An Interview With R. Murray
Hi, Rebecca,
can you tell us a little about Touched by the Wolf?
Touched By The Wolf is the first book in the Dark Blood trilogy. It tells the story of Emilie an immortal witch who is forced amongst a pack of werewolves to spy on them. She is under instruction by the King of France who happens to be a brother of the Lamia who are the only family of Vampires who have the Dark Blood of immortality within them. The wolves have for centuries wanted immortality and they are threatening war once more on the Vampires in a hope to this time get what it is they want. It is a story about loyalty, love and survival.
Did you end up editing much out of this book?
No I didn’t actually. I instead ended up adding more in and playing more with the emotions of the characters, getting more into their heads and trying to get the readers to feel what the characters are feeling.
What was the hardest scene to write?
If I am completely honest there wasn’t any hard parts to write in this book, I think they are to come in the second and third books. If I had to pick one it would have to be the death of two of the main characters. I won’t say who, don’t want to spoil anything.
What do you like to do when you're not writing?
When I am not writing I am working. I work as a Dog day care supervisor at a dog day care in Auckland. Its shift work so I don’t get to write much in the week, instead my weekday evenings are spent reading anything and everything.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
After writing Paranormal I think I would love to have the power to turn into any animal depending on what my need would be for survival at the time.
Are there any subjects you feel you would be unable to write about, and why?
I can write most things, except for erotica. I have never been good at that and I don’t think I would be able to do it justice like so many amazing authors out there do.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
To never give up on your dream. I was very badly bullied mentally by someone I once called a friend and they destroyed my confidence in my ability to write, but I eventually turned such negativity around and use the abuse as my strength, and now I have my first book published. Never let people tell you that you cannot do something, you can! Write for you first, someone, somewhere will always read your work.
Thank you for stopping by today Rebecca and congrats on the release of Touched By The Wolf!!
