She tries to stay out of their radar while mastering her demons and keeping her murderous temper under control, but having the face of an angel only attracts everyone's attention... including the arrogant heir to Asia's most powerful tycoon, Kenjin Kiyohara.
He senses the danger, but Sakura is too interesting to be left alone.
Excerpt
He snatched her backpack and swung it around his shoulder.
“Hey!” she protested, lunging for it.
Jin stepped aside, evading her grasp. He smiled to himself, taking long strides toward his car. He could hear her feet going after him.
Mr. Fujimaru was already by the car, holding the door open. His guards stood waiting like goons by the sidewalk.
“Look,” she said, grabbing his elbow before he could duck into his car, “I don’t care if you rescued me. I am not going with you! I don’t even know you!”
Her words cut right through him.
She lunged for her bag again, but Jin threw it into the farthest corner of the back seat.
He looked at her tilting his head down, their height difference apparent. He thought about what she said.
She doesn’t know me? His forehead creased. Was he really that invisible to her? He felt like someone had just slapped him across the face. He took one long look at her before ducking into his car.
He was confused. Any girl would jump at the chance to be with him—she should have been honored and groveling at his feet for rescuing her! What was wrong with her?
He felt her slide into the seat next to him, her knees slightly touching the side of his thigh. But before he could think, she reached across him, leaning her upper body against his lap to grab her bag. Jin froze.
She straightened back up, clutching her bag to her chest. Her eyes met his with a piercing glare, and a wave of heat suddenly swept over him.
Jin looked away, landing his gaze on her reflection on the car door window. Even with an angry face, she still looked so beautiful.
Jin smiled, tilting his head to the side to get a better look. I should stop this, he told himself, but it was too late. She was too interesting to be left alone.

Author Interview
Welcome V.C. Buckley to my little corner of the world. I am so glad you could be here. How about we get to know you a little better...
That was so much fun! Thanks again V.C. for stopping by and congrats on your book!
Do you have any unique or quirky writing habits?
I’m not sure… I hand-write everything, but I’m not sure if that’s quirky or unique. I think better when I’m holding a pen than I do pressing on a keyboard, so I am always with my notebook when I’m in the drafting stages. When you see me with a laptop, you’ll know I’m in the editing phases. I also play music depending on the mood of my chapter.
Describe what your ideal writing space looks like.
A simple room filled with silence. And some baked goods wouldn’t hurt too.
What's the strangest thing you have ever had to research online for your book?
-Fundoshi. In the early stages of my book, I had a picture in my head of what I wanted all the Yakuza men to wear during Sakura’s succession ceremony and I came across Fundoshi. It’s the traditional male undergarment of Japan. Very interesting.
If you were deserted on an island, which three people would you want to have with you? Why? Criteria:
One fictional character from your book
One fictional character from any other book
One famous person that is not a family member or friend
Based on the Criteria above, I would choose Jason Conrad, Yoda and Bear Grylls.
1.) Jason Conrad from my book HANAMI, because as the next heir to Conrad Industries-the largest electronic and robotics company in the world, I am pretty sure that the people looking for him will use their company’s advanced technology to try and locate him. And also, I’m pretty sure he would have some sort of tracking device attached to him somewhere. So the percentage of getting rescued is high.
2.) I also choose Yoda from Star Wars, because while waiting for Jason’s people to come rescue us, he can teach me a few Jedi tricks, Plus he can use the force to guide Jason’s people to the island.
3.) Since we would have to stay a while on the island, Bear Grylls is the ultimate survivor veteran and he knows what to do. Being stuck with him increases your chance of survival… Plus he’s quite nice to look at.
Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
YES. But I’m afraid I can’t tell you what they are. You will have to discover it on your own. I will give you a clue though: It gets easier and more obvious as you read the other books.
What writing advice do you have for other aspiring authors?
START. It is just one word, but it may as well be a sentence. Stop thinking and planning about the day you will finally write and just START. Just how one step starts a journey of a thousand miles, so does one word to the end of a book.
Lighting Round
Tea or coffee? Tea
Morning Person or Night Owl? Morning person
Cats or Dogs? Dogs... no Cats… No Dogs... wait, I’m confused! I love them both!
Movies or TV? Movies
What came first, the chicken or the egg? The Chicken of course!
