About And I Love You

Radio disc jockey Juliet St. John is hiding her heart in the dark. Once the toast of the Bay Area with her own popular morning show, she’s now forced to work the remainder of her contract in the career ending pit of overnight radio. The only bright spot of her day is the gorgeous bistro bartender three doors down who provides her with a nightly infusion of caffeine.

A twist of fate finds Juliet broadcasting from the restaurant where she learns the sexy bartender Gabe Durand is not the man she thought he was. Is he hiding secrets in plain sight?

Shattered by tragedy, Gabe moves to San Francisco with his four-year-old daughter, hoping for a fresh start at his new restaurant. But the beautiful disc jockey from wine country changes the menu when she rekindles emotions he thought were long dead. To find love again, he’ll have to come to terms with his past and confess the one thing that might scare her away.

And I Love You is the third book in a series of contemporary romance novels. If you like cozy romances, a full cast of friends, steamy scenes, laughter, and sexy book boyfriends, you'll love book three of Kate Kisset's Love in the Vineyards series.

Excerpt

She hung a right, hoping her usual parking spot was open, and took her foot off the gas.

Gabe was waiting on the sidewalk.

Her heart dropped.

He’d never done that. There must be something wrong. She fought the cold chill rattling her. What could be so urgent he couldn’t wait for her to walk into the restaurant? Or what was so important it needed to be discussed in private outside? Taking a deep breath, she navigated into the slot and shut off the car.

Gabe rushed to her door and opened it. She scrambled out. “What’s wrong?”

He clasped her hand and ushered her off the street to the sidewalk. Gripping both of her hands, he smiled, holding them against his heart. “Nothing’s wrong.” He nodded and shrugged, looking boyish, manly, handsome, adorable.

“Then what?” She searched his eyes for a clue. The sky was bright, and she could clearly see his beautiful eyes gleaming with—

Was she seeing happy-excitement, or...? Adrenaline shot through her, making her feel light-headed. “What?”

“Before it gets too busy, while it’s only you and me…” His wavy hair gleamed when he bent his head and kissed her hand. “I just didn’t want any distractions or songs, or work, or anything to get in the way.”

Was it Ella? Is she okay?

“You need to know you’re the last person I think of before I go to sleep, and the first person I see when I wake up. And I’m sure,” his eyes smiled, “if I remembered all my dreams, you’d be there too.”

“What?” she stared at him through the blur as her eyes began to fill. No one had ever said anything as poignant, as breathtaking—to her.

No one had come close, or a million miles away, to expressing anything nearly as tender or lovely—about her.

Butterflies, confetti, car horns, songs, and a thousand jangled, tangled, elated thoughts filled her heart and spilled over, bringing tears.

Before she could say anything, Gabe cradled her face in his hands and guided her lips to his, and she closed her eyes. And as crazy as it was, Juliet started crying. It wasn’t a sob, or heavy weeping, but warm tears poured from her closed eyes and streamed down her cheeks.

Breaking from the kiss, she turned to the adjacent red brick building and quickly wiped her tears away with the back of her hand before he could see.

But Gabe must have seen them, because she felt his hands on her shoulders, and he pulled her away from the building and against his chest and held her. They rocked together like that, on the sidewalk, under the moon and stars while distant sirens cried. Minutes ticked by without a word, but his embrace told her everything.
